BRITNEY CLARKE ATTENDS D2 GOVERNANCE ACADEMY OF MINORITY OPPORTUNITIES GOVERNANCE ACADEMY
Syracuse, NY – Le Moyne College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Assistant Coach Britney clarke was recently selected and participated in the D2 Governance Academy of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA).
The Minority Opportunities Athletics Association (MOAA) provides opportunities to exchange ideas and advocates for increased participation and administrative opportunities for minorities in athletics. The MOAA also promotes the generation of a sports culture that supports the value needed to teach and learn respect for self and others.
The Governance Academy was held virtually and consisted of 90 minute sessions on June 1, 8 and 15. minority directors for division II committee service.
“What an opportunity to meet and learn from practitioners from across the country,” said Clarke. “I was challenged to find exciting new ways to support and serve our student-athletes. I was grateful to have the chance to be part of this great event and proud to represent Le Moyne College! “
The first session was titled “Mock Board of Management Meeting” and provided participants with a better understanding of how committees function within the Division II governance structure and the tools required for future committee service.
The June 8 session was titled “So you want to be AD?” and provided an interactive review of the “So you want to be an AD” document and presented an opportunity for roundtable discussions.
The last session on June 15 was an opportunity to hear from a professional motivational speaker.
Clarke is entering her fourth year with the cross country and track programs in 2021-2022 and works primarily with sprints, hurdles, horizontal jumps, multi-event groups and relays.
A 2012 graduate of the University of Miami, Clarke was a multi-event athlete for the Hurricanes track team for four seasons. She has competed in both pentathlon and heptathlon, finishing eighth in the pentathlon at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships as a senior. Clarke is also the 2008 New York State champion in the women’s pentathlon.
Clarke received her bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology in Miami. She received her Masters of Higher Education from the University of Arizona in 2015.
