Bullock Creek Approves Hockey-Related Application to State Athletic Association; Coleman approves the operational mileage resolution was also approved as presented to the Board of Directors.

School boards in the Bullock Creek School District and Coleman Community Schools both held regular meetings on Monday, April 18. Here is an overview of some of the items on the agenda of these meetings.

The school board approved the 2021-22 budget amendment resolution and a contract with Bullock Creek Superintendent Shawn Hale.

The board also approved a request for a cooperative agreement with the Michigan High School Athletic Association for hockey-related matters.

Two staff members were recognized for new positions. Justin Freeland will coach the varsity boys’ basketball team beginning in the 2022-23 season, and John Griese is now the primary matchday guard at Pine River Elementary.

The Board accepted the resignations of the following staff members:

  • Tamera McGraw as Paraprofessional at Floyd Elementary
  • Elizabeth Baker as Paraprofessional at Floyd Elementary
  • Jackie Lambert as Concierge at Pine River and College, effective April 1, 2022

Also, Joseph Scott, janitor at Pine River Elementary School, has retired.

Coleman student reinstated Monday after disciplinary action

The council met in closed session to discuss the disciplinary measures concerning a student. Eventually, the Coleman student was reinstated Monday in a vote.

A resolution on operating mileage was also approved as presented to the Board.

School board members also acknowledged the retirement of athletic director and teacher Dave Mammel, effective June 30, and the resignation of high school volleyball coach Liz Dana, effective last November.

The board acknowledged a few staffing approvals on Monday:

  • David Gnegy, varsity baseball coach, starting March 23
  • Kyle Sunderman, afternoon guard, starting March 23
  • Jacob Steere, afternoon goaltender, starting March 24
