Ian Evatt has reshuffled his squad for the Bolton Wanderers’ trip to Charlton Athletic with four changes made.

Declan John and Alex Baptiste replace Liam Gordon and George Johnston respectively in the Wanderers defense.

Josh Sheehan falls to the bench with Kieran Lee entering the fray, while Elias Kachunga replaces the unavailable Lloyd Isgrove.

One change is forced, with three rotational changes it seems to use the team in a series of busy fixtures.

And Wanderers fans on Twitter don’t seem sure about two of the changes Evatt made for the Addicks clash, with Sheehan and Johnston the players in question.

@ bwfc714 posted: “Glad John, Kachunga and Lee are starting but can’t understand letting go of Johnston and Sheehan. If it works then all credit to Evatt.”

@aaron_bwfc posted: “Most that I can understand I’m not sure about Sheehan, I would have ditched the Sarcs first, but hey, let’s go white ones !!”

Gary Jackson wrote: “Okay with Gordon and Isgrove is a forced change but for me Johnstone has been our best defender this season and I would have rested Sarce not Sheehan. I guess 9:30 pm will tell us if that was the good decisions. “

Chris Merrills wrote: “Can understand Johnston being abandoned not because he played poorly individually, but Baptiste improves defense as a unit as he gets the best out of Santos while being strong himself. to see Lee start, but not at Sheehan’s expense. Lucky Sarce.

@Sheeehan_Szn posted: “Very surprised by this but I’m a fan of it, GJ needs a rest – guess it has nothing to do with form as it was awesome on Saturday. Sheehan has looked a bit far since. its back so put it down for saturday, DJ back, good to see and Kachunga begins. “

@ bigrozz8 posted: “What has Johnston done to deserve to be abandoned, arguably he is the best player on Saturday and has he been one of them all season? “

Mark Jackson was able to bring in a larger selection of players for Leeds United’s EFL Under-21 Trophy match with Oldham Athletic tonight.

The development team head coach named a 15-18-year-old starting XI for their Papa John’s Trophy opener against Tranmere Rovers two weeks ago.

As a result, the experienced League Two sent out the junior Whites with relative ease, increasing by three halftime goals.

An attempt to retaliate followed as the Football League opposition sat down and protected the score, but Leeds fought valiantly under the circumstances.

Several Under-23 leaders were left out of this squad a fortnight ago, many of whom had to fill the first-team substitutes bench due to injury, suspension and a crisis in the COVID-19.

With senior players gradually returning to the fold, Jackson named Crysencio Summerville, Leo Hjelde, Lewis Bate and Kristoffer Klaesson in his starting XI tonight.

Many have been involved in the young Whites’ strong start to the Premier League 2 Division 1 season, which puts Leeds Under-23 team in fourth place.

Oldham Athletic, meanwhile, started his campaign under difficult circumstances.

Fan dissatisfaction, directed at a controversial property and frequent management renewal, has contributed to a gradual decline in results since the Greater Manchester club’s takeover by Abdallah Lemsagam.

The Latics currently occupy the bottom of the Football League pyramid, 24th in League 2, and recently suffered the ignominy of a 7-0 League Cup loss to Brentford.

However, recent results suggest that a milestone has been reached, with back-to-back clean sheets in the league and a 1-0 victory over local rivals Rochdale this weekend.

Having said that, the team Leeds have named tonight are a team that should be competitive enough to get a result, perhaps even a first victory in this competition as an elite academy.

Leeds United XI: Klaesson, Sutcliffe, Hjelde, Moore, McCarron, Bate, Allen, Miller, Summerville, McGurk, Dean

Subtitles: Van den Heuvel, Drameh, McKinstry, Kenneh, Hughes

Oldham Athletic XI: Leutwiler (GK), Fage, McGahey, Dearnley, Da Silva, Vaughan, Bettache, Jameson, Stobbs, Bowden, Couto

Wigan Athletic will look to maintain solid form against Michael Duff’s side at DW Stadium.

Young Sam Tickle was on the bench on the cover of first-choice Ben Amos.

Seasoned stopper Mark Howard trained with the club recently, as reported by The Sun on Sunday (09/19.21, p. 61), but it’s unclear whether he’ll be offered anything yet.

Where’s Bennett?

Wigan signed Joe Bennett on deadline day last month, but he is yet to play for his new club.

The former Cardiff City defender is not quite in good shape yet and is still awaiting his debut.

It was a tough night for the North Laurel Lady Jaguars on Thursday, when they faced the athletic team at Cumberland Homeschool (CHAT) and fell in straight sets.

CHAT controlled the game for all three sets. They won the first set 25-14 and won the second set 25-16. North Laurel fought back in the third set, but CHAT fell back to win the set 25-18 and the match.

Coach Scott Croucher said his team were able to go head-to-head with CHAT for much of the night, but narrowly failed. Croucher said two players, Ivy Greer, River Greer and Abby Diehl, really made a difference for CHAT.

“The sets were actually closer than the scores indicated. There was a lot of solid play on both sides. We made mistakes, when their team made very little, ”said Croucher. “Ivey Greer and Abby Diehl played really well, hitting the ball for them and putting a lot of sideways, as well as River Gree, placing themselves pretty well and scoring some solid points. “

While the Lady Jaguars struggled to score more points on the board, Croucher said he liked the way his team struggled on defense.

“We had solid defensive play and our passer Alivia Parker, along with our midfielder Jane Lock and away Emma Parman all had solid plays,” said Croucher. “As mentioned, the main difference is that we had a few more mistakes in our execution, and they played it well. Glad to see them on the road and see a few other good games.”

The UCSB women’s volleyball program has continuously raised her athletic level, and coach Nicole Lantagne-Welch said she believes this season she has the strongest team she has ever had. never had in his nine years at the helm.

The Gauchos will be tested early in the 2021 season as they face the Illinois of the Big Ten in their first game at the season-opening Milwaukee-Wisconsin Panther Invitational on Friday.

Illinois are coached by former Laguna Blanca and former US national team player Chris Tamas. The Fighting Illini program featured two former gold medalist Team USA women’s indoor volleyball players Michaelle Bartsch-Hackley and Jordyn Poulter.

“We can’t wait to see a strong team in Illinois to start the season,” said Lantagne-Welch.

The Gauchos also play in Valparaiso and host Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday.

After canceling last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lantagne-Welch said this year’s squad is a tight group and they’re hungry to play.

“They have worked hard over the past year to be ready,” she said. “This team has the greatest depth of any team I’ve had here. There is great competition in the gym, and that will only make us better. “

The UCSB is dismissing players such as midfielders Rowan Ennis and Deni Wilson, libero Kobie Jimenez and outside hitters Tasia Farmer, Tallulah Froley and Gigi Ruddins from the 2019 squad that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.

A talented group of newcomers includes passer Mehana Ma’a, a transfer from Cal State San Bernardino who helped her team go 33-0 and win the National Division 2 title in 2019.

Since they didn’t play last year, this will be the Gauchos’ first season without All-American forward Lindsey Ruddins in five years.

“You’re not replacing someone like Lindsey with just one player, but we’ll do it by committee,” Lantagne-Welch said. “We have a lot more balance in our attack, and this production of more areas of the field will make us more unpredictable.

“We will be young on the pitch, but athletic and deep. “

The UCSB will make their home debut on Friday, September 3 against San Diego State in the Gaucho Invitational. The Gauchos will then face Kansas State and Pepperdine on Saturday, September 4.

LATICS defender Harrison McGahey is set to recover from a calf injury but remains ruled out ahead of Saturday’s visit to Colchester United.

The summer signing impressed in the preseason but missed the start of the campaign because of the problem.

But while head coach Keith Curle is keen to ease the burden on his stretched squad, he insists he won’t rush McGahey – or any of his players – back.

McGahey, 25, traveled back and forth to the Scunthorpe squad last season due to a recurring calf injury. And with that in mind, Curle is keen to ensure the former Rochdale defender has made a full recovery before he is considered for first-team duties.

“We’re not rushing anyone back. We have a return-to-training protocol that they have to follow,” said Curle.

“Harrison has returned to rehab on the field. He hasn’t rejoined (with the team) but he’s on the grass.

“Last season he had a nightmare in Scunthorpe where they threw him back and he got injured again, threw him back, got injured again, and it cut his season short.

“He did so much work in the preseason and was great, the last thing he needed now was an injury.

“What we won’t do is the same mistake other people have made.”

Laurie Walker is expected to remain in goal after returning to the club on a seven-day emergency loan from MK Dons following a Danny Rogers shoulder injury and Jayson Leutwiler being unavailable due to problems contractual.

Walker, who finished last season with the Latics following an injury to Ian Lawlor, went straight into the roster for Tuesday’s game at Bristol Rovers.

“Laurie is a good character and a good goalkeeper. He understands what we expect of him and what is expected of him,” said Curle, who himself reported to the club this week after his stint. isolation after testing positive for coronavirus.

“He played League One football in the season opener at MK Dons so he knows about it.”

Jamie Bowden, on loan from Spurs, started the season but missed the last two games due to isolation under Covid protocols.

The midfielder is expected to return to duty at Boundary Park on Monday.

This event marks the end of the track and field season for many, and attention now turns to cross country preparation for the athletes who will compete in the fall and winter months.
Meanwhile, John Fitzsimons finished his great season last week at the Milers British Grand Prix meeting in Eltham with another impressive personal best of 3: 41.66 over 1500m. John will take a well-deserved break and we can’t wait to see him again in action in 2022.
