Not only has Williams been impressive in Athletic Club’s unbeaten start to the season, he also continues to make La Liga history with his back-to-back appearances.
As reported by Soccer SpainWilliams has already racked up 236 consecutive league starts for Bilbao, a feat which began in 2016.

It was feared that Williams’ record could come to an end this week after he suffered an ankle injury earlier in the week.
However, he was named in the starting line-up for Bilbao’s La Liga clash against Espanyol.
Williams broke the record in October 201 when he made his 203rd consecutive appearance at the time.
He broke the previous record held by former Real Sociedad defender Juan Antonio Larranaga. Larranaga played for Sociedad between 1980 and 1994. Larranaga and Williams are also the only two players to have made more than 200 consecutive La Liga appearances.
As noted transfer marketWilliams has now made 276 La Liga appearances in his career.
He’s still a far cry from the all-time La Liga appearance record set by Andoni Zubizarreta. The former Barcelona and Atletic Bilbao keeper has made 622 appearances in the Spanish league.
