Russian dwarf athletics association concerned about Hasbulla Magomedov fight
The Russian Dwarves Sports Association has called a potential fight between a social media superstar and a singer “unethical”.
It all started with images on social media of a clash between Hasbullah Magomedov and Abdu Rozik.
Although at this point it’s hypothetical, the fight should be organized by MMA professional Asxab Tameav.
But the president of the Russian Dwarf Sports Association, Uliana Podpalnaya, said the potential fight would be “unethical”, saying it would be a “show of laughter”.
Talk to gazeta.ru, Podpalnaya said: “It’s not even like a show fight – they [Magomedov and Rozik] getting paid a lot of money and it’s a spectacle to make people laugh.
“There’s nothing serious about it, it’s not sport. It’s unethical, wrong, from my point of view.
“It seems that only on one side can it be correct and beautiful – if martial arts among the little people becomes a Paralympic sport.
“It could be judo, karate, and people will understand that this is a serious sport, serious performance, and not some kind of laughing show.
“Events like this don’t draw attention to the sport of the little people. If interest in it shows up, it is only for business that a lot of money is invested in it.
“And in terms of growing the sports careers of these guys, there’s no prospect.”
You may have noticed the pair appearing on your TikTok feed over the past few weeks.
In case you didn’t know, Magomedov is known as “Little Khabib” – a reference to former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The couple also appear to know each other, with Khabib sharing videos of Magomedov on his social media.
Standing at three feet four inches, the 18-year-old is said to have a genetic condition that kept him from growing up when he was young. It is said to weigh around 16 kg.
Although his condition has not been officially confirmed, it is believed that he suffers from a form of dwarfism.
Abdu Rozik is a 17-year-old singer from Tajikistan.
He is said to have had rickets as a child, which stunted his growth because his parents could not afford to treat them.
