Sheffield Wednesday vs Charlton Athletic: Darren Moore’s live reaction to Owls’ comfortable win

Wednesday was back on the winning streak last week as they cruised to a 3-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers to close the gap to the top six, but results elsewhere – and a host of midweek games this week – meant the Owls weren’t able to come back up in the most important places.

Darren Moore will hope that can change this afternoon though, with his side knowing that three points coupled with favorable results from Plymouth Argyle, Sunderland and/or Wycombe Wanderers would be enough for them to eventually reach fifth place.

  • Wednesday looking to find their way back to winning ways at home
  • Sam Hutchinson is back for SWFC
  • Dominic Iorfa returns to the team

He played better because he was able to dry out… It will be better with the dry weather because we can continue to work on it.

DM on Windass and Gregory

Josh isn’t ready to train yet, but he’s working hard. He is advancing on the medical path.

We don’t know when he’ll be back, we don’t want to set a deadline. However, he is doing very well.

Tuesday will be too early for Lee Gregory.

They are solid, they are disciplined and they work very hard for their manager.

We’ll be evaluating them over the next 24 hours – we think these are just shots, but we’ll give them 24 hours. Both were kicked.

He always works hard for the team, he is courageous… What I like about him is that he is a utilitarian man who can evolve in several positions. He’s been full this season when we needed him, and I’m glad he’s scored a few goals now that he’s up front, but what I really like about him is his work rate. He gives us a huge outing – and scored a goal to top it off.

I don’t think this season I’ve ever really had a fully fit team… So I welcome the selection problem that comes up when people are back in shape. They’ll want a piece of the action, and I’ll welcome them back.

Every week we get one or two back, but for the most part it’s the same group of players we fire.

We have to continue… We wanted to get into the top six, which we did, and we have to continue in terms of performance, and we continue to look at the rankings.

The team works hard together.

The ground they cover, the quality they bring… It was superb. But everyone had to play their part, and that’s what they’re doing.

Everyone sees Marvin in his natural position now, and the applause is coming…I’m indebted to Marvin for how he stepped in at centre-back, but he’s got wonderful balance and athleticism, and he’s showing his experience for we. He is getting stronger and stronger.

Really happy to have the three points, we controlled from start to finish… It was a question of maintaining our level of concentration.

We wanted a third, but we were happy with the 2-0. We didn’t give them any momentum and tried to get a third. We did the damage in the first half.
