Sportshall success for emerging stars at Oswestry Athletics Club

Oswestry Olympians athlete Elliot O’Connor was the best player at the West Midlands Sportshall Championships to be crowned Under-15 champion.

Elliot will now represent the region at the UK Championships to be held in Colchester later this year.

Elliot was part of a contingent of seven Olympians from Oswestry in the Shropshire team which competed against other West Midland counties in the Sporthall Regional Finals and Fun in Athletics competitions at the North Solihull Sports Centre.

He got off to a great start winning the speed rebound with a score of 82, 12 points clear of his nearest rival.

His dominance continued to win the 43cm standing long jump with a leap of 2.36 meters.

He then moved on to the track where he raced home in the two-lap race well ahead of the chasing pack to secure maximum unassailable points in all of his events.
