Wigan Athletic squad news and predict XI will face Burton Albion
Wigan Athletic hosted Burton Albion on Saturday at DW Stadium.
The Latics welcome the Brewers to the Northwest as they look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Lincoln City on Tuesday night.
Leam Richardson’s side did not take advantage of a chance to climb to the top of the League One table as they were beaten enough by the top team on the night.
Wigan is currently third in the table, two points behind leaders Plymouth Argyle with one game short.
Team news
New signing Joe Bennett has yet to make his club debut and is still unavailable for Saturday’s game. Leam Richardson recently revealed that Bennet suffered a “minor setback” in his journey to recover from a knee injury.
Key midfielder Jordan Cousins is also ruled out for Saturday and will be for several weeks, the 27-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during Wigan’s demolition of local rivals Bolton Wanderers.
Forward Charlie Wyke is uncertain as he missed Tuesday night’s game with a blow to the ankle and was a huge miss at the head of the line.
Tom Naylor has been a mainstay of the Latics midfielder so far this season as his performances have been superb. Naylor helped on both ends by creating chances and protecting all four defenders, but limped in injury time on Tuesday night and appeared to be in pain.
Wigan will also be without the Callum Lang talisman on Saturday, as he is suspended for receiving five yellow cards so far this season.

It certainly won’t be a full eleven for the Latics on Saturday, but it will still be a team that has more than enough quality to win all three points against Burton Albion.
A convincing home win is needed as the Latics have struggled to play in front of their own fans this season with the best away performances.
